Economy Minister Zypries visits Smart Data Forum at event on IT-Wirtschaft Competence Center
What are the current challenges of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from the IT sector and how to address them? These were the main topics discussed at the “Mittelstand 4.0 – Competence Center IT Wirtschaft” event hosted by the Smart Data Forum on March 9.
German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Ms. Brigitte Zypries has opened the event, emphasizing the importance of the competence centers in supporting the SMEs to implement digital technologies in their businesses. The Minister pointed out that a budget of about €4 million has been allocated for the next three years to secure the operation of the competence centers.
“With the competence center IT Wirtschaft we want to strengthen the SME software providers and promote their networking with the innovative start-ups. It was important and right to have established 23 Mittelstand 4.0 competence centres throughout Germany. They help our SMEs to position themselves competently and competitively in the digital world,” said Minister Zypries.
SMEs from the IT sector got the opportunity to join networking sessions to learn how the competence center IT Wirtschaft can help address their issues.
IT Wirtschaft competence center is part of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy’s funding initiative Mittelstand 4.0. It aims at promoting networking among the small and medium-sized IT enterprises in order to deliver all-in-one solutions to a larger public. The project is expected to run until November 2020.
